The bandaid included with returned sharpened knives is almost a stereotype at this point.

I would expect it. But I sharpen my own.

But wouldn’t you need the band-aid more if they’re NOT sharp? 😆

    3. i’m sure you got the sharpest sharpening if dude takes pride and is japanese. or japanese taught.

    4. There was a story of two knife sharpeners: Masamune and Muramasa. Muramasa always included bandaids when returning his sharpened knives as a joke, and suggested Masamune employ a similar act of levity. Masamune nodded, and to his friend’s horror, Masamune sliced the tip of his own finger off with his sharpened knife. The cut was so clean that the finger did not bleed, and by simply placing the tip back in place, Masamune’s finger was restored good as new. Muramasa, after realizing his own inferiority, never sharpened a knife again.

    5. I mean, when I learned to sharpen my knives, I had to relearn how to use them. I’ve shaved off the tip of my nail / fingertip enough times that the nail doesn’t grow back properly. A properly sharp knife will go right through fingernails even at the most oblique angle like they’re not even there. I keep hearing that a sharp knife is safer than a dull one, but I don’t think I agree; they’re fucking lethal. Still, they’re an absolute joy to use.

Also, bandaids will only work on small cuts, for bad ones, hypafix is the way to go

    6. Oh man, the band-aid is a subtle flex. Even as dude who just is an amateur sharpener at home who’s cut himself more times than I can remember…I could not imagine cutting myself after a pro sharpener got his hands on a blade.
